Unable to afford Storyboard Pro, or on a budget? Well, Adobe provides you with the means to Storyboard and Animate in a limited fashion with Adobe Photoshop 5.0 and CC. You now have access to the tools necessary to make digital storyboards, simple previz or animated storyboards for your ebook, book, web comic, motion piece or pre-production short film.

The key to storyboarding in PS is Layer Comps, a hidden and not widely known or used tool within photoshop. Layer Comps allow you to select which layers will be “on” for a given frame or sequence and remembers which layers are on/off. Then, it can play back the sequence, so the creator can view if the newly created sequence flows according to your story.
